Web Site Analysis and Search Engine Submission

You already know that if you want people to find your web site you need it listed in the search engines. You also probably realize that the higher it ranks in the search engines, the more people there are that will find your site. What you may not know is how to legally optimize your site for the search engines.

You don't need me!

It's true, you don't need me to personally analyze your web site for you to be able to optimize it for the search engines. How's that for honesty? You don't need me because you can learn all you need to know about search engine optimization from my eBook, SEOS (Search Engine Optimization Strategies), at a much lower cost than having me personally analyze your site to make my recommendations.

However, I realize that some people just don't care to do the analysis part of it - after all, it is tedious and time consuming - some folks would rather have someone else tell them just what they need to do, so for those folks I offer a web site analysis service.

3 Things to Know...

There are three things you need to know before hiring someone to optimize your web site:

If you're not going to learn the ins and outs yourself, trust it to someone with plenty of experience and a good reputation, because there are a lot of sharks swimming the seo seas.
Search engine optimization is not for sites on free hosts, it's a business service for domain owners. Many search engines no longer accept submissions from sites on free hosts because they cause link rot. Link rot is dead links, and free hosted sites come and go like flies.
While my site submission service does include thousands of search engines, directories, and link pages, it does not include search sites that charge for a submission or listing. Included are sites that accept free submissions like Google and DMOZ, not included are sites like Yahoo that charge high fees.

I want you to go into this with your eyes wide open, whether you hire me or someone. There's no need for anyone to get ripped off, so just take a few minutes to educate yourself.

Two Levels of Service

There are two levels of service, a simple submission service and a site analysis and submission service. With the simple submission service I submit your web site as is, you are responsible for ensuring your web site is ready and meets search engine requirements. Submission does not ensure inclusion. I have no control over which sites the search engines and directories accept for inclusion nor over how much value you web site has. I'm merely providing the submissions.

Simple Search Engine Submission

The simple submission service includes:

Hand submission to most major search engines and directories that allow free submissions.
Software submission to over 100,000 lesser search engines, directories, and link pages.*
Report showing a sample of the submissions.
* While submitting your site to 100,000+ search engines, directories and link pages sounds wonderful, it's not near as wonderful as it sounds. I'm not going to mislead you, most of them are useless. Only a few dozen, up to maybe 60 or 70 or so will generate any traffic to your web site. Your link will disappear from many link pages within days due to it being bumped out be newer submissions. The best benefit from most of these lesser sites is that it can help boost your web site's link popularity, which is an important ranking factor.

Site Analysis and Submission

The site analysis and submission service includes the same submission process as above, with the following additional services:

Before submitting your web site, I'll thoroughly analyze one page of your site (usually the index page) to look for:
- Missed optimization opportunities (I always find some).
- Search-engine-illegal coding.
- Layout problems that can negatively affect ranking.
- Other possible search engine problems as observed.
- A critique of your page copy according to your purpose.
I'll look at several other pages of your site for any problems not covered by the in-depth analysis of the primary page, and mention any new problems found. I will not guarantee I'll look at every page, there are some HUGE sites out there and I'm not like the Energizer Bunny, I won't keep going and going and...
I'll provide you with a written report, usually 5,000-10,000 words, with my findings and suggestions. You'll be given ample time to make any recommended changes you choose to make. These suggestions are written in clear language that will allow you to apply the same changes to the other pages of your site that you choose to optimize. You'll have 90 days to make the changes, and this can be extended in 90 day increments by notifying me that you need more time. There is a one year final deadline, I can't carry an open account forever.
After you've made the optimization changes you choose to make, you notify me when you're finished and I'll submit your site and send you a report with sample submissions.

Note: An analysis is a lot of work, it usually takes 5-10 days to complete because I can't work on it exclusively, I have other business to tend to at the same time.
